Helping Our Neighbors
You may have noticed you haven’t received email from us for a while. Though we’ve been quiet, we’ve been busy behind the scenes supporting our local first responders and healthcare providers with protective masks and gowns.
Like many of you, the start of COVID-19 crisis in mid-March left us uneasy for our community, especially when it came to learning about the limited supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We couldn’t just stand by and watch as a pandemic unfolded without taking any action.
Within 48 hours of Nevada’s announcement of its shutdown, we’d decided to help protect our community by making PPE for Southern Nevada first responders and healthcare providers. “Right now, it is our job to do the right thing and protect our first responders in any way that we can,” says Steve Mevius, “and that is our promise to Nevada.” #ShadesDownMasksUp
With a little reverse engineering, we converted our Interior and Exterior Shade manufacturing equipment and factory into a facility for producing approximately 10,000 gowns, 3,000 surgical masks and 1,000 face shields each day.
We are so proud of our community and employees for stepping up for this challenge. Together, we have proven we are #VEGASSTRONG.
About Our PPE Efforts

The other 8 hours of the day are specifically dedicated for running the actual business, providing shades to the community and to fulfill all of our window shade dealers’ orders.”

Introducing Polar Shades’ Retractable ViruShield
Our work creating PPE that protects our community, employees and customers led us to another product innovation. We’ve developed a Retractable ViruShield, allowing builders and architects to easily adapt open office space designs for safe collaboration, all while preserving the office view! With some finishing touches, these ViruShields will be available to order soon. Stay tuned for more information.
